Meet Alex

Alexandra “Alex” Peais joined the Los Angeles litigation services department in 2012, relocated to open the firm’s San Francisco office in 2015, and became a partner in 2018. She specializes in forensic accounting for complex, high net worth family law matters. Her expertise and services include tracing and apportionment of separate property assets, gross income available for support, marital standard of living analyses, stock option and restricted stock unit allocations, post-separation accountings, and reimbursement claim analyses. Alex has extensive experience with family law issues pertaining to clients in the alternative asset management industry, including private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds. She has also participated as a business valuation expert for the National Family Law Trial Institute.

Prior to joining Gursey | Schneider LLP, Alex was a forensic accountant at a well-known accounting firm based in San Francisco and Marin County, where she also specialized in family law litigation services. While her full-time employment with that firm commenced in 2009, Alex worked there as a forensic accounting intern beginning in 2004.

Alex is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the San Francisco and Santa Clara County Bar Associations.

Alex graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2008, followed by a Master in Professional Accounting degree in 2009. While pursuing her degrees, she was employed as the sole staff accountant in the Austin branch of an international insurance brokerage company. Alex was recruited by all of the “Big Four” accounting firms, but opted to pursue family law forensic accounting upon graduating.
